About Roger Himes, The Gospel Coach — Spiritual Life Coach, Spiritual Guide, Christian Counselor, Lawyer
GOSPEL COACHING is far different from just instruction.
Instructors tell you what is WRONG with you, and what to DO about it.
Paul calls them ‘Instructors in Christ’ (I Cor 4:15).
They treat Jesus like a behavioral psychologist.
A GOSPEL COACH tells you what is RIGHT with you,
and how it empowers you to live better and more productively.
The gospel is God’s power in us and through us (Rom 1:16),
and ‘Fathers of the Gospel’ lead you into living in the power and presence of God. It empowers us to live better by accident than we could on purpose.
Coaching is also far different from counseling.
I’m a licensed counselor with NCCA, but seldom do much counseling anymore. Counseling most often deals with PERSONAL PROBLEMS,
while coaching deals with LIFE SOLUTIONS.
Religion demands that you live life right.
The gospel is the presence and power of God in you that enables you
to live life more abundantly than you ever imagined (John 10:10).
THINK!
If you only grow 1% better per week,
in a year you will be 50% better than you are today.
This is what gospel coaching is all about: life changing solutions!

As a lawyer, I basically began my Christian life focused on the Old Testament law, like so many other Christians. For nearly 15 years I lived this way. After all, lawyers are steeped in law, procedures, etc. It seemed only natural that this was the way life was meant to be lived.
But in 1990, our loving heavenly Father took me aside and began showing me I was really missing something, like so many countless others. He was able to use my legal mind, and legal thinking, to see the realities of his covenants, and other legal realities in his word of truth.
You see, the Bible is a very legal writing. Look at words like adoption, redemption, propitiation, judgment, sanctification, righteousness, justification, etc., etc. Even faith is defined as ‘evidence,’ in the book of Hebrews, which is a very legal subject. You don’t have to be a lawyer to READ the Bible! But it can help to have a lawyer explain some of the legal implications!
In 2010, I celebrated my 20th anniversary of the renewal and transformation of my mind to the gospel (Rom 12:2).
I practice being separated unto the gospel (Rom 1:1). I began THE GOSPEL COACH ministry in 2010, in celebration of this, providing spiritual help, guidance, therapy and coaching in the gospel — which is the whole truth of the Christian life.
